sled dogs
"Give me dogs, give me snow, you can keep the rest".
Polar explorer Knud Rasmussen in his diary “The Literary Expedition”.
They are neither wild animals nor are they pets. Rather, they are partners, hunting companions of the Inuit and often lifesavers. In the past, they have made life and many expeditions to polar regions possible. They are masters of survival in the polar wilderness and as such they have well earned their place in my wildlife gallery.
The Alaskan huskies that I got to know during my husky guide training with Hetta Husky in Finland were not quite so wild. They have not only found a place in my gallery, but also in my heart. (scroll down)
